If you still haven’t had your panto fix, I’m hearing good things about Cinderella, the first panto at the new Epstein Theatre. In its former guise as the Neptune, the venue was well known for its annual festival family show.
Eighties pop star Sonia is Baroness Hardup, the wicked stepmother. Best known for the hit You’ll Never Stop Me from Loving You, she is actually no stranger to panto, having appeared in several productions before.
Former soap stud and “resident Liverpool pin-up” (it says ‘ere) Philip Olivier stars as Buttons, and Big Brother contestant Nikki Grahame appears as the Fairy Godmother.
Cinderella is the first panto in the building for seven years; it opened this week and runs through to January 6.
Producer Lee Kelly said: “It’s a dream come true to be producing the first pantomime at the Epstein, after I myself performed in numerous pantos at the old Neptune Theatre as a youngster. The cast are having a lot of fun and I guarantee a huge lavish show, one not to be missed.”
