“A glittering tale of love, failure and illusion” is heading to the Invisible Wind Factory as part of Physical Fest.
The Band is a new production by Levantes Dance Theatre, a tragi-comic story of faded pop duo Sandy and Bruno – a couple united by desperate ambition and blind affection.
Artistic director Eleni Edipidi collaborates with choreographer and dancer Nathan Johnston to devise and perform the show, told using an “alchemic mix” of original choreography, physical comedy, acrobatics and aesthetics.
In The Band, Sandy and Bruno are seventies one-hit wonders on the scrap heap, opening the skeleton cupboard, dusting off old costumes and preparing for a comeback. Is this their last chance for fame?
A departure from Levantes’ female duets, the piece sets original choreography, theatre, circus and the company’s bold visual style to a rousing soundtrack.
Catch The Band on Monday, May 29 at The Invisible Wind Factory, Liverpool as part of Physical Fest.
