The team behind the Tales From Haunted Liverpool series return with a brand new show this Easter: Tales From Charles Dickens.
Staged in a city claimed by Dickens himself as his favourite after London, and performed in a venue he described as the most perfect hall in the world, the performances will include excerpts from Oliver, Great Expectations and Hard Times at St George’s concert room.
The world famous tales will be performed and read by four locally known actors including Pauline Fleming (Lucky Numbers, Brookside and Coronation Street) who will be joining the Tales From… cast for the first time.
She said: “I have a huge passion for literature and I’m absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to perform some of the works of Dickens in Liverpool’s St Georges Hall. The characters in Dickens tales are so rich and colourful; I can’t wait to get stuck in.”
She is joined by Brian Dodd (I Love Vinegar Vera, Blood Wedding and September in the Rain) and Roy Carruthers (Night Collar, Funny Money and Ladies Night) who both performed in the Tales From Haunted Liverpool productions. They are also joined by 17-year-old Francess Gannon from Speke.
Adapted and directed by Jen Heyes (Curiouser & Curiouser, The Spirit of Christmas, Blood Wedding, I love Vinegar Vera and Wall Talks), the performances will form part of Dickens 2012, an international celebration of the life and work of Charles Dickens marking the bicentenary of his birth, which falls on 7 February 2012.
Co-Producer Bill Elms said “ We are going to really enjoy bringing some of Dickens classic stories to life in a space that Dickens himself stated ‘a perfect venue’.”
The show will be performed on April 12 and 13. Tickets are available from the box office on 0844 8000 400 or online at www.echoarena.com*
