Some amusing news to give us a little bit of cheer on this rainy Monday is that classical music star Rhydian Roberts is coming to Liverpool in the touring production of Grease this winter. Whoever wrote the press release amused themselves no end shoehorning a spectactular amount of groan-inducing references into the following: “Blonde baritone Rhydian Roberts will bring some added X Factor to Grease when he joins the smash hit musical to guest star as Teen Angel for its limited two week season in Liverpool later this year. The singing sensation will leave audiences hopelessly devoted to his charms when Grease rocks into the Liverpool Empire from 8-19 November 2011.
“Following its electrifyin’ four year London run and for the first time in over 5 years, the hit West End show Grease began a new tour this spring. Back by popular demand, Grease premiered at the Edinburgh Playhouse on 6 May 2011 and continues to rock ’n’ roll around the UK and Ireland this year and into 2012.” That’s quite enough of that, thank you very much.
Rhydian will be joining Liverpool’s own Ray Quinn and Carina Gillespie, who star as sweethearts Danny and Sandy.
