You may remember the Tommy Cooper Show premiering at the Lantern Theatre last Christmas; now, after a well-recieved Edinburgh Fringe stint in the summer and the approval of the Tommy Cooper Society for the convincing portrayal of the man himself, no less, it returns for another Christmas special.
Liverpool actor Danny Taylor has been praised for his take on the legendary comic in the show, which also stars Sharon Byatt as Cooper’s wife Gwen, and as Gareth Jones (formerly known as children’s TV presenter Gaz Top – yes, really) as manager Miff Ferrie.
Taylor co-wrote the show with collaborator and local playwright Ian Carroll, and it features Cooper’s classic gags and magic tricks.
Catch the show back at the Lantern from December 11 to 19, with evening and matinee performances still available – for more information, see the venue’s website.
MADE UP is a blog that attempts to cram in as wide a variety of news, reviews and interviews on theatre happenings in Liverpool as possible.
If you're a theatre company or performer with something to shout about, I would love to feature you and help to spread the word about what you're doing.
